Kappsfarm was founded in 1947 by Mr. Manfred Crohn, born 1912 in Berlin / Germany.
In about 8 years, Mr. Crohn built up the 2500 ha Farm with 3 boreholes about 140-meter-deep which supplied water for 500 Karakul sheep and 500 Angus cattle . At the time, the Farm had only 3 dams (now 9 dams), with the main building overlooking one of the bigger dams.
In the centre of the Farm an Italian mason built up the till today existing Farmhouse which has been restored and built up to house the current Kapps Mountain Lodge and Venue.
Mr Crohn has won many trophies and awards in his day, on exhibitions in Windhoek and Mariental for his persians and bulls. Some of the history of this time can still be viewed at the Lodge today.
The Farm was later taken over by the Lohmann Family for Cattle Farming. Today, the Farm is operating as a Lodge and Venue, catering for Weddings, conferences and team building events.
